Unfortunately, we are unable to provide complimentary legal advice. We do offer fifteen-minute complimentary consultations that you can book with a member of our firm. These consultations are an opportunity to hear your matter and assess how we can best help you – if at all. This is also an opportunity for you to learn about how our firm works. Once our firm is engaged and we have agreed to act on your behalf can we provide legal advice.
Often people think something is just a “quick question” because of how quickly they can ask it, and not how long it takes to answer it. The answer is rarely ever quick – even if we talk really fast – and means that to answer it appropriately we need to understand the situation. We are happy to answer all of your “quick questions” as part of ongoing Advisory Services at the firms hourly rate once you’ve retained our firm.
Our Firm has Lawyers from the Province of Ontario, Canada who are Called to the Bar of Ontario. Important to note: the laws of each jurisdiction are different and there are nuances to the legal rules of each Province, State or Country. If you are outside Ontario, we practice general legal principles specific to your industry. Connect with us to learn more about how we can help you and get your business legally protected and legitimate!
Don’t worry, we do! We promise you do not need to have it all figured out, and most of our clients actually got more clarity in their business after hiring us. A very popular service we offer is a Legal Audit for business owners and corporations where we perform a comprehensive overview of your venture and provide a legal roadmap of services you may, or may not need, with education involved. Let this be your starting point.
A retainer, or a trust payment, is a fee paid in advance to secure the services of EFV Legal. This fee is paid at the beginning of a legal representation and is used to cover future services. Any funds provided to us are held in trust, and billed out to your account at the completion of any milestones in your matter. Any funds not used are returned to you. Many clients elect to leave funds in trust with the Firm to be used incrementally throughout the year for their needs.
We do what we can to provide fixed fees and transparent pricing at the onset of every project we work on so you never have any surprises. For projects outside of scope like questions and consults, we bill at our hourly rate until we can define a new project scope.
Congratulations. That is very exciting. If you'd like EFV Legal to represent you in the transaction, either you or your realtor can send over the Agreement of Purchase and Sale. From there we will be able to assess next steps and let you know over email what we require from you to move forward.
